Welcome to Hospital. How may I assist you? Would you prefer a deluxe room or a semi special room?
Gone are the days when the clinics that you visited for your health problems were the places you went just to get an aid for your illness. Now you look up for a place which has better ambience so that you don’t feel extremely unwell and you feel the need to get well. Today, Patients are looked upon as customers. The main duty of a doctor is no longer just to solve their health problem but also provide them better health related services. But truly, the scene has changed in recent days. Today when you go to a modern day clinic you have a well furnished reception room where soothing music is playing in background, you are answered well by the receptionist, after which the patient is made to comply various process started by clinics for their efficiency. The medical details are recorded in the database and the patient is guided from a test to another. They are no longer left at the mercy of signboards but are attended immediately. The services have become more personalized but at the cost of a very heavy damage on patients pocket.
Today the concept is no longer a service to humanity. Gone are the days when doctors were equivalent to gods and patients used to be at their mercy. Today it has become a corporate service. If you can afford the best the doctors are at your service otherwise you do not have all the luxuries and comfort of a 5 star hospital and clinics. Today after hotel industry even hospital comes under hospitality industry, Medical tourism is the inHealth Clinic thing and for which when you enter a hospital for a minor surgery you have an option of a simple room, deluxe room, super deluxe and a suite. The doctors have also become more professionals. Today they have a larger game at hand. Did you ever remember any hospital publicizing its services, well the times have changed, today hospitals run campaigns for their publicity, due to the professional hazard they cannot publicize directly so they route it via professional services hired from Public relation agencies.

  1. Dear Health Clinic,

I loved your article, but have to enlighten you about your statement, “The services have become more personalized but at the cost of a very heavy damage on patients pocket.” Everyone knows that the most sickening thing about health care is the doctor’s and the hospital’s bills. However, there is a cure for that too. I kid you not. I have personally been treated to three of the finest health care organizations in a destination you won’t believe until you check it out. These hospitals are five star accomodations with world-class physicians and hospitals at prices anywhere from about an eighth to sometimes only a tenth of what it will cost in the States, UK or Europe. The interesting thing is that a company named America’s Medical Solutions was started by three American guys who actually live in Bombay, India (www.americasmedicalsolutions.com). And there isn’t a procedure they cannot get you a hospital and a doctor which will meet or exceed your expectations and won’t cost you an arm and a leg! I cannot recommend them enough.
